On 2 August, PACAF change of command ceremony was executed by General Schwartz (Chief of Staff of US Air Force) and Admiral Locklear (Commander of US Pacific Command) at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Base in Hawaii.　General North was retired from USAF, and General Carlisle assumed office as new PACAF commander.　Gen.Carlisle was consecutively Commander of 13rd Air Force and A3, A5 staff of Headquarters of US Air Force, and is pro-Japanese and has profound knowledge of Pacific region.　President & Mrs.Yoshida and advisor & Mrs.Hokazono participated in the ceremony as distinguished guests from JAAGA.
