Afternoon of 14th November, secretariat Hirose and Enoki visited Lt.Gen.Wright
(commander of 5th Air Force) in order to hand JAAGA support money for JASDF-USAF
Non Commissioned Officers (NCO) exchange program. At this meeting, Command
Chief Master Sergeant Roy as senior enlisted leader and Mr.Hasebe as special
adviser sat with the commander. Gen.Wright expressed the appreciation on
JAAGA's support to this program there. Outline of commander's remark at
the meeting is "it is most essential for the security of Japan to
tie closely JASDF and USAF. JAAGA pushing forward many activity for strong
ties with USAF and JASDF is important at all, and we thank for your contribution
to it". And CMS.Roy commented "Mutual unit training had started
in 1996, USAF enlisted members from Yokota, Misawa and Kadena visited Chitose
JASDF base for mutual training. Recently the training is more substantial,
so we were satisfied with the result of this exchange program". The
mutual training this year is scheduled in December at Misawa, Yokota and
Kadena air base. The original purpose of the support program by JAAGA was
for supporting to USAF exchange officers stationing at JASDF bases since
1975, but JAAGA changed it for NCO exchange program by Mr.Hasebe's advice. We
introduced this fact to Gen.Wright and CMS.Roy at this meeting. Finally
secretariat Hirose said "JAAGA is planning to send JAAGA members to
Kadena air base, and to support university students to visit Yokota air
base in next quarter. We'll coordinate with the persons concerned about
detail matters". (Reported by secretariat Enoki)
