On 10 Feb. 2010, JAAGA had the presentation ceremony of Kanto area JAAGA
Award JFY2009 at JASDF Iruma Air Base. This presentation is 12nd since
the award was established.
Presentation ceremony was held at Iruma Inn and the reception was done
at 2nd Welfare Center. Lt.Gen. Watanbe (CADF/CC), Maj.Gen. Ikeda (CAC&W/CC)
and 16 JASDF members, Col. Quezada (374MSG/CC) and 4 USAF airmen participated
in. And as Iruma AB supporters, Mr. Ogino (vice president of Iruma Kouyuukai),
Mr. Maeno (vice president of Iruma Youth Executive Club) and Mr. Toyoda
(president of Iruma AB Employment Council) joined, and JAAGA vice president
Shimizu and 5 officers attended.
The ceremony started with the national anthem playing performed by ZOOT36J
(Iruma AB light music band, conducted by Lt.Col. Kan), then vice president
Shimizu explained the purpose of JAAGA Award system and expressed appreciation
to USAF and JASDF members, especially Iruma AB members, for understanding
this award and setting the presentation ceremony.
Award winners of this year are SMSgt. Kitabayashi (Headquarters of Air
Defense Command, Fuchu AB), MSgt. Mori (Air Traffic Control Service Group,
Iruma AB) and MSgt. Montiel (374 Air Wing, Yokota AB). SMSgt. Kobayashi
and MSgt. Mori actively contributed to many kind of exchange events between
JASDF and USAF. And MSgt. Montiel did key role for establishing and maintaining
cooperation through bi-lateral training events and exercises relating to
local disasters and major accidents.
Shimizu presented the award to 3 winners, handed memorial plaque to their wives, and praised their achievement. Maj.Cody appreciated to JAAGA and addressed "it is increasingly for our tight relation between US and Japan to improve the friendship and mutual trust". And Maj.Gen. Ikeda congratulated winners and pointed "this year is 50th anniversary of Japan-US Security Treaty, so it is important more and more to make effort for the promoting friendship and for enhancing mutual trust between US and Japan".
At the reception which was held after the ceremony, Mr.Hahino had congratulate
speech and proposed toast for promoting of US-Japan alliance. After then,
three winners stated respectively "I'm very proud of receiving JAAGA
Award and I will continue effort for exchange activities between US and
Japan".
At the end of reception, secretariat Ogawa had appreciation greeting
and requested toast for closing party. JAAGA Award JFY2009 presentation
event ended in pleasant atmosphere. We would like to express very sincere
appreciation to USAF and JASDF staffs who had supported for this presentation
ceremony with regardless of their duty.
