On 14 May (Fri.), the commanding change ceremony of 374th Airlift Wing
was held at Yokota Air Base by Lieutenant General Rice (USFJ & 5AF/CC)
as the executor. Commanders of Fuchu AB and Iruma AB from JASDF and the
chairman Hirose and secretariats form JAAGA was invited to this ceremony. General
admired Colonel Hicks's the achievement and his leadership, and introduced
new commander, Colonel Paul Feather (successor) in the ceremony. Then Gen. Rice awarded a decollation to Col.
Hicks who leaves the office. After Col. Hicks's address of leaving the
office, he returned the commander's flag to Gen. Rice and General handed
it to new commanders Col. Feather. After then, the nameplate of Col. Feather
was installed to commander's C-130 aircraft parking in front of the hangar. Then
the ceremony ended successfully.
After the ceremony, the inauguration party was carried out at the Yokota
Officers' Club, we could have chance to talk with Col. Feather. He is the
command pilot of C-130, more than 3900 flight hours. And he has an experience
to work at Ali Al Salem AB, Kuwait, and he supported Japan Air Self Defense
Force there. He will be good advisor for JASDF on oversea operation. (reported
