On 29 June, Lt.Gen. Burton M.Field, commander of US Forces in Japan and Fifth Air Force, executed the change of command ceremony for the commander of 374th Airlift Wing and Yokota Air Base at No.15 hunger of Yokota AB. Commander of JASDF Yokota AB, vice commander and chief of staff of Air Defense Command, and commander of Iruma AB participated in this ceremony from JASDF units. JAAGA secretariat Arai and Takahashi attended to this event. The ceremony was started with singing solo of the national anthem of Japan and America. Then Lt.Gen.Field praised the achievements and the leadership of Colonel Kinght who leaves the post of commander of Yokota AB. and encouraged new commander, Colonel Mark R.August. And Col.Knight was conferred a decollation by Lt.Gen.Field. During the speech of leaving office, Col.Knight mentioned about the bonds between US and Japan through "Tomodachi Operation" since the disaster hit East Japan in 2011. The commander flag was returned to Gen.Field by Col.Knight, then it was given to new commander, Col.August, by Gen.Field. After this Col.August had a speech of arrival post, and new name plate was attached to C-130, the commander's aircraft. After the ceremony was over, we moved to Officer's Club for the reception. There we could frankly talked to Col.August. Col.Augast is the command pilot, over 3000 flight hour (C-130), his family are wife, 2 boys and 2 girls.
