Tenth JAAGA president
General Shigeru IWASAKI, JASDF retired
16 May 2016
Hello, I am Shigeru IWASAKI, a retired General of the JASDF (Japan Air
Self-Defense Force). Succeeding to General (ret.) Kenichiro HOKAZONO and
with the approval by the members , I have just started taking office as
the 10th President of JAAGA (Japan-America Air Force Goodwill Association).
JAAGA, since its establishment in 1996 as an affiliated organization
with Tsubasa-kai (JASDF Veterans Association), has devoted itself to promoting
mutual understanding and friendship between the JASDF and the USAF (United
States Air Force). Thanks to the untiring effort made by successive presidents
and members, JAAGA's activities have gradually become more and more wide-ranging
and lively.
The Legislation for Peace and Security came into force on March 29th of this year, and the security environment, which Japan faces, requires Japan-US alliance to be closer and deeper. As the President at this JAAGA’s 20th anniversary period, I am determined to make my utmost effort in order that JAAGA’s activities can deepen the bond between the JASDF and the USAF, thus contribute to strengthening the Japan-US alliance.
I would like to ask all of you, the members of JAAGA, for wholehearted
assistance to me and positive participation in various activities of JAAGA.
