On 25th and 26th August, Japanese-American Friendship Festival was carried out at Yokota Air Base. At flight line of Yokota AB, many kind of aircrafts of U.S. Forces and Japan Self Defense Forces. And beating Japanese drums, dancing of Eisa (Okinawa) and Soran (Hokkaido), playing by rock'n'roll group and PACAF band were performed on indoor and outdoor stages. Because of good weather, many Japanese community members visited Yokota AB to learn more about Yokota AB and U.S. military. Colonel John F.Newell (commander of Yokota AB. and 374th Airlift Wing) held reception at Yokota NCO Club from 1:00 P.M. of 25th Aug, JAAGA secretariat Okamura and Minamoto, and regular member Mr.Yamaoka and Ishikawa participated to it. Col.Newell said, "It is an excellent way for our military members and their families to learn more about Japanese culture and, more importantly, to build personal and professional relationships with our Japanese friends and neighbors". During reception, Yokota AB Friendship Clubs, local governors, JASDF commanders of Iruma and Fuchu AB and many distinguished guests were introduced. Surprisingly JAAGA was introduced first. Reception was over in about 1 hour, we left the base while thanking a heartwarming service of Col. & Mrs. Newell and peoples of Yokota AB.  (reported by secretariat Minamoto)
